Prague is among the best student cities of the world : survey
Prague is included in the best cities index for international students. Prague ranked no. 26 overall out of one hundred cities by UK-based education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds. The city’s large and internationally diverse student community gave it a strong score in the Student Mix category of the survey.
It also ranked among the top for affordability; while international tuition fees are in the mid-range, Prague is a less expensive place to live than many of the other entrants in the survey.
Prague achieved its strongest score in the new Student View indicator – coming second behind Ottawa.
When asked to name the best things about studying in Prague, one student said: “It’s very affordable and comfortable to live in. Great cuisine.” Another highlighted the “friendly atmosphere and great nightlife.”
2017 Quacquarelli Symond Best Student Cities index, an annually released poll that showcases the best urban destinations for international students based on five categories: university rankings, student mix, desirability, employer activity, and affordability.
Though Prague is yet to make to the very top of international study destinations, it has long been in the list of top European city-break destinations because of its UNESCO-listed historical center as well as its arts, museums and nightlife. “In recent years, it’s also been recognised as an international innovation hub, ranked 29th in the Innovation Cities Index,” the ranking adds.
